Founders Trophy at Ormonde Fields Golf Club

The Founders Trophy is our longest standing event and this year, after what seemed like a long absence we returned to Ormonde Fields for the game. After extensive rain in the past fortnight it was good to see the course reasonably dry and in very tidy condition. Several players found the greens a little slow, but were happy for the weather to be dry and sunny.
This was another attempt to attract more players (40 present) by having a more informal event. Those who stayed for dinner, which was voluntary, did not have to wear jacket and tie. Of all players, 2 missed out on a very good meal and of the others about half changed for dinner. This will receive further consideration at the next executive meeting.
With our Captain Derek having to be away at a funeral the Vice, Bob Roberts, took full control of the situation, we should be in good hands for next year. Spen looked after the starting and later assisted Tony Cooper to sort out the cards. Many thanks to them both.
First prize was won by the Ormonde Fields Captain, Richard Bell 40 pts, second Ron Adams 38pts, in a 3 way tie with Paul Edwards – who also had the only 2 and Adrian Shepperson ( Vet ) and Senior prize Nick Round 35.
