Norfolk Captains at Royal Norwich Golf Club

Norfolk Captains at Royal Norwich Golf Club

21 May 2019

On a glorious spring day 20 members made the lengthy trip to Norfolk, with a few turning the trip into a short holiday.
The Club after 126 years on this James Braid course will, later this year, be moving to a new parkland site on the outskirts of Norwich , with the old course having been sold for building.
After a light lunch we had split starting points at the 1st and 9th which allowed us a quick round and enabled us to make the return journey from about 6-00 pm
The course was an undulating parkland design with two points where holes crossed making it all very interesting. The fairways, having what appeared to be damage by drought last year were in poor condition, however there was placing on all fairways.
After a very good meal it was left to the Captains to announce the results. Club President Terry Pyle gave us a belated welcome and said how they all had enjoyed the fixture. Our Captain Derek replied saying what a pleasure it was to be Captain and how he had enjoyed the day. He duly handed back the shield for a year’s safe keeping.
Unfortunately, the results were not in our favour with Paul Mooney and Colin Barnard being the only winners and Paul Simms and Tony Davis halving. Showing his skill Colin won the nearest the pin on the 12th.
