Sydney Cartwright Salver at Horsley Lodge Golf Club

The 2nd of May was the date of the Society’s first competition of the Season.

It was played at Horsley Lodge Golf Club and 44 members took part. During late morning the weather turned decidedly poor and at 12.00 noon very heavy rain fell. Fortunately it did not last nor did it dampen the players enthusiasm and play got underway as planned.

This year Ormonde Fields took the first two places with Paul Simms carding 39 points and Andrew Dale 38 points. Third place had to be decided on countback with 3 players on 36 points.

Keith Potter of Bakewell Golf Club coming out on top from Les Haines of Erewash Valley Golf Club and Peter Sumner of Burton Golf Club. Les and Peter’s scores however saw them win the Best Veteran and Best Senior Prizes.

Our Treasurer Martin Eyre now a member of Woodhall Spa Golf Club won the nearest the pin prize.

There were 4 2’s Harry Bradford, Andrew Dale, Clive Barker & Roger Hanks all receiving a sleeve of Logo balls.
